Humane Meat Consumption

Some of you know I am a teacher.  My 7th grade ELA class has been viewing and discussing the documentary "Food Inc."  It really opened my eyes to the inhumanity in the meat industry.  To do my little part, today I bought organic, grass-fed, hormone-free buffalo meat and these:

I am used to paying .99 for eggs, but I really didn't mind the 2.99 price (plus I had a .50 coupon).  These will last me awhile because we don't eat a lot of them.  I just feel better knowing the chickens get to run around and roost and perch naturally.  Plus, these were fed only natural grain.  So, we are not getting hormones or other nasty things they injest in the chickens.  I wish I could raise my own, but we don't live in the country, and with two dogs......

Making Your Home a Haven: Drawers

Monica

 has been hosting the Making Your Home a Haven series.  This past week we were supposed to do something for someone.  I am taking that out of order and hosting a baby shower next Thursday for a woman at work whose baby came early, so he will be there!  I have NEVER given any kind of shower, so this is new to me.  She is very sweet, so she will be happy, no matter how it turns out.

Now, on to today's challenge:  Drawers.  I have 2 drawers in my kitchen that are catch-all drawers.  YES, 2!  Ridiculous I know.  Here are the "before" pictures:

Below:  If you look carefully, you will see 5 of the 6 babies.  On top of the chest is Snowflake.  Behind the computer monitor is Minnie, followed by Miles behind her.  In the front are Thumper and Humpty.  When Matthew has his guitar lessons, I go in my room, so naturally the cats followed!!!
