Cats on Tuesday

For more cat pictures, go to Gattina's.

Today:  A dialogue between Minnie and Mom:

"Minnie!  What on earth are you doing up there????"

"Oh, Mother! I'm observing my kingdom.  I am the Queen, as you say."

"Minnie, be careful.  Mother is afraid you'll get hurt."

"Mother, you forget that we cats have springs in our feet.  We are made to jump.  Besides, this ledge is wide.  I am in no danger of falling."

"Minnie, come down NOW!"

"Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.  I dearly love Mother, but she is one possessed human mother.  She doesn't understand our athletic ability."

(a close-up of Minnie surveying her kingdom)

"Peekaboo, Mother"

"Alright.  I can see she is starting to hyperventilate.  I will appease her and come down to the cabinet."

"See, Mother; Minnie is just fine.  You go calm down now or check on those stupid canines."

And, below is the Princess, but she is the Queen of climbing.  I cringe every time she scales this china cabinet like Spiderman.

Thumper wants Buddy's dog food!  His thumb came in handy.

It must be good!

Eating From the Pantry:January 25

We have been eating from the pantry/freezer all month.  The last few days have been difficult as we are down to simply beef.  I am expecting a chicken breast shipment from here this week.  I got them on sale and with free shipping to boot.  Because of that order, I am at $96 for the month on groceries.  I didn't make a pledge about how much I would spend, but this is considerably less than my usual $40 a week.  To see what  my freezer/pantry looked like BEFORE starting the challenge:  go here.  Here they are now:

New Addition and Thumper

Buddy got married last Sunday.  I went to my parents' house in a nearby town to pick Matthew  up.  After we left Walmart, stupid me decided to go to Petco.  I had never been in there before.  Angel was in a cage and the lady started talking to me about her.  I said, "No, I have 6 cats and a dog now."  We left, went back to said parents' house, and I proceded to think about Angel's pitiful eyes.  The rest is history............

And, because I love Thumper's thumbs..............

Show and Tell

For more Show and Tell head over to Cindy's.
This week I am showing a doll my father brought me from Scotland some twenty-something years ago.  When he worked Civil Service at a nearby naval base, he had to make several trips to Scotland.  I don't know where she was made, but that doesn't matter.  It is special to me because he brought her home to me after one of his trips.

Cats on Tuesday

For more cat pics, head over to Gattina's.

I wash my sheets and comforter once a week.  It is hard to find a time when at least one of the babies isn't on the bed.  Well, they don't like sleeping on the rough mattress.  Here I pulled the electric blanket back, but Miles and Humpty still claimed it.  Miles has no problem with Humpty; it's Thumper that he feels threatens his manhood.

At the same time, Lovey was at the head of the bed.

Wow!  It is rare I can capture this many, 5 of my 6, together.  The only one missing is Princess Snowflake.  I love this picture.  At the left are THUMPER in the back and LOVEY and MINNIE in the front.  MILES and HUMPTY are to the right.

Sweet Lovey is in the son's laundry basket below, with his hand over his eyes.

I took this as I was drinking my morning coffee in bed.  Minnie is in the background, Snowflake to the right, and Humpty at my feet, where he sleeps at night.

Mr. Lovey---This is rare as he does not often get on my bed to sleep.

Eat From the Pantry Challenge: Halfway Point

This month we have only spent $29.00 at Publix and Walgreens on groceries.  I have had to buy pet food, but I am strictly counting people food.  That's pretty darn good!  I have found myself  GREATLY tempted to order from here because they have the BEST tilapia and chicken breasts.  But, I have ignored all their email sale notices. I want to deplete the meat I have before buying any more.  This is a personal challenge for me.
If you go here you'll see why I have bought so little this month.

Here's the menu for this week:

January 18:  Panko encrusted chicken tenders , Betty Crocker potatoes, veggie
January 19:  Chili over rice
January 20:  Spaghetti and salad
January 21:  Hamburger steak with herb/olive oil potatoes, veggie
January 22:  Sushi out
January 23:  Turkey tetrazzinni

Snacks: popcorn, leftover homemade pizza I froze, chocolate milk.
Since it is just my 15 year-old son and me, we nearly always have leftovers.  These leftovers are either eaten another night, or he eats them as a snack after school

Show and Tell

For more Show and Tell treasures, head over to Cindy's.

Last week it got cold here in coastal South Carolina.  When I say cold, I mean 30s during the day and  low 20s with windchill in the single digits at night.  While rummaging through my cedar chest, I came across sweaters I knitted ov er 20 years ago.  I forgot I had them.  This week they came in handy in my drafty, cold school.  The sad thing is, I remember nothing about how to knit.  I was always better at crocheting.  I struggled with these, so I can't believe how well they turned out, when I look back on them.  What do you think?

Below:  You can see why Thumper has his name; that boy has some BIG feet!

I love this picture showing one of the two things he does best:  SLEEP!  The other is EAT!!  When he went to the doctor, they weighed him at 16.4 pounds!

This is his favorite stance with his left arm extended.

Here he is again with his blood brother Humpty Dumpty.

Lovey loves to play in my son's bathtub.  Here he is getting ready to climb in.

I don't know what got into Humpty here, but it is what it is!
